Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Unit: Step Down (Intermediate care level)
• Charting system: EPIC
• Parking: Free

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of Step Down nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background checks including national criminal, state, county, SSN trace, sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education verification (official transcript or diploma with graduation date)
• Missouri EDL Search within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes multiple drug panels)
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Flu vaccine required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt)
  • TB screening (PPD, Q-Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray and questionnaire if positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination accepted with conditions
  • Hepatitis B – Proof of vaccination series, titer, or declination accepted with conditions
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination accepted with conditions
• Fit mask testing completed onsite at orientation
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years
• Employment application, skills checklist, and recent work history verification required

Orientation & Training

• Must review and sign confidentiality agreement, code of conduct, and complete demographic form prior to start
• Complete agency nurse orientation quiz with a minimum score of 84% before starting
• AVADE onsite training required if extending past initial contract for certain units (Step Down included)
• Remediation and testing policies apply for dysrhythmia/EKG exams, with specific rules for ICU and non-ICU candidates
