Medical Lab Technician - Travel/Contract

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, alternating schedule

  • 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Schedule pattern: 36 hours one week / 48 hours the next
  • Workdays alternate between Friday-Sunday and Friday-Monday biweekly
• Hours per week: 36

• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Lab Technician experience, including experience within the last year
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current ASCP certification

Certifications & Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required)
• Competency Exam relevant to profession/specialty within 1 year prior to start, renewed annually
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (required)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Annual physical exam or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clearance to work without restrictions
• Fit mask test to be completed onsite (PAPR not accommodated if facial hair present; medical/religious exemptions allowed)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (Td not accepted; declinations accepted if within 1 year of start)
• Negative TB test via QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year prior to start (T-Spot/PPD not accepted)

  • If positive TB, must provide chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer
  • Mumps – 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer
  • Rubella – 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer
  • Varicella – 2 vaccinations or positive titer
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year of start)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (must apply within 48 hours of offer acceptance)

Background & Drug Screening

• Background check per Appalachian Regional Bundle with 9 Panel (no THC) plus expanded opiates and oxycodone, completed within 30 days prior to start
• Drug test per same panel, completed within 30 days prior to start (labs must be done within 48 hours of signing offer if within 30 days of start)

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, employee health attestation, and fit test policy review
• Must comply with state-specific registry verifications (e.g., Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry within 30 days prior to start)
• Orientation occurs biweekly; start date is the date needed on the job order

• Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of accepting the offer
