Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - GI Lab

Location

  • Greenwich, Connecticut

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM to 7:00 PM)
  • Call required: one weekend on call per month
  • Floating required between in-house GI suite and offsite GI center

  • 186-bed Magnet and teaching hospital
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrubs provided
  • Free parking in any unrestricted space

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
  • Minimum of 1 year of GI Lab experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Orientation

  • RN orientation every other Monday at this campus
  • Next orientation dates available: June 29 or July 13

Certifications & Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required within 12 months prior to start; must score 85%
  • Color Blind Testing required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024; must score 80% or higher
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for RNs working in GI/Endo units
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke, etc.) not specifically required for this GI Lab role unless unit description states otherwise

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months prior to start; must be updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Verification of highest level of education required; foreign equivalency evaluation required for internationally educated candidates
  • Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Work history verification for last 7 years required for all start dates on/after 8/2/2024
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required if applicable to certain units (not typically GI Lab)

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start; must be updated annually; clean-shaven required for fit testing
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required; TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Tdap highly preferred for pediatric specialties, labor/delivery, postpartum (not required here)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines required; boosters if titers low
    • Hepatitis B: positive titer, proof of vaccine series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters if low titer
  • 10-panel drug screen required within 12 months prior to start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination series preferred but not required
