Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Care for stable trauma patients in a high-volume surgical trauma environment.
- Provide pre-op and post-op care for surgical patients including exploratory laparotomies, hemi-colectomies, mastectomies, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, eye surgeries, trauma, and plastic surgeries.
- Also care for lower volume surgical populations such as gynecological surgeries (hysterectomy, myomectomy), palliative care, 24-hour observation, and medical overflow patients.
- Use rapid response teams, administer blood products, and manage peripheral lines.
- No on-call required.
- Weekend rotation and holidays as needed.
- All travelers may be floated between campuses as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card.
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, including aliases and multiple search levels. No open hits allowed.
- Education verification by a third party; Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required. Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education was obtained outside the U.S.
- Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history.
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third party.
- Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months).
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
- Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code acknowledgment, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgment.
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable).
- Fit mask test (N95 or approved alternatives) completed within the current calendar year and updated annually.
- Proof of adult Tdap vaccine.
- Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months or chest X-ray if positive history. Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, and Hepatitis B (titer or declination).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start. Positive marijuana results result in immediate contract cancellation with a 6-month reapplication ban.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
Testing & Competency Exams
- Pass/Fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) exam required for all RNs except Behavioral Health and Case Managers.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam with minimum passing score of 80%.
- Color vision testing required unless non-clinical.
- EPIC test required with two attempts allowed; 80% passing score required.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
- Acknowledgment of pass/fail testing policies required.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be aware of and agree to the facility’s floating policy across campuses.
- Candidates must complete onboarding tasks including Workday login and multi-factor authentication prior to start.
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here).
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome.
