Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide care for infants requiring assisted ventilation including:
    • High frequency ventilators (JET and Oscillator)
    • Conventional ventilators
    • Non-invasive methods (bubble CPAP, RAM cannula, HFNC)
  • Care for pre and post-operative critically ill newborns, including those with tracheostomies
  • Care for pre-term infants including extremely low birth weight (ELBW) population
  • Strong knowledge of developmental care
  • Floating between NICUs, Special Care Nursery (SCN), and Infant Care Center (ICC)
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a), day and night shifts available
  • Weekends: Every other weekend

Requirements

  • Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years NICU nursing experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have prior travel experience)
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Preferred: Minnesota RN license

Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
  • State RN license verification required
  • NURSYS verification required for RN

Background & Health Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year prior to start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • 7-year county and nationwide criminal search
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • FACIS level 3
    • Education verification (minimum HS diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or higher must specify field of study)
  • Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required before start (candidates must complete MN DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing contract)
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (must state “may work without restrictions”)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immunity documentation or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B immunity or declination form
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination form (mask required if declined)
  • Drug testing within 1 year prior to start (9 panel minimum)

Additional Information

  • Uniform: Royal blue scrubs
  • Floating between units expected, with efforts to keep in one location per shift
  • Secondary location: St. Paul, MN (pre-scheduling possible due to needs)

This position is ideal for NICU RNs with strong neonatal critical care skills and prior travel experience looking for a 16-week travel assignment in Minnesota.
