Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Pediatrics)
Location: Helena, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1+ year behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience with pediatric patients
- Experience in milieu management
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
- Shift: Nights
- Work schedule includes every other weekend
- Charting system: Epic
- Patient population: Children and adolescents, primarily with suicidal ideations, ADHD, and spectrum disorders
- Facility operates 24/7, 82-bed children's hospital
Certifications & Licenses
- RN License (Primary source verification required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid (in-person First Aid required; virtual not accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required based on unit
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required based on unit
- CPR certification
- NURSYS Verification prior to start
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred; facility will provide training if needed
Required Documents & Checks
- Valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background checks including SS Trace, County searches (last 7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender Registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Physical exam within last 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; chest X-ray within 5 years if positive PPD)
- TB questionnaire (updated annually if applicable)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Two professional references within last 3 years
- Skills checklist
Additional Information
- All staff must complete online facility-specific training modules (~8-12 hours) prior to orientation
- Facility provides 24/7 care in a pediatric behavioral health setting
- Locals accepted at travel rate
