Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Unit & Work Setting
- Renal Medical Surgical
- Ratio: 1:5-6
- 49 Rooms, average daily census of 48
- Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Schedule & Work Requirements
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- RTO Blackout Dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience (Medical Surgical)
- 1st time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification: Refer to unit specifics; not explicitly required for this role
- State RN License (Georgia) – must be current and verified within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS Verification (RN) – annual verification within 30 days prior to start
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by Aya)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (required by Aya)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Card tele/step-down, ICU, PCU; verify if applicable)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start (required by Aya)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (PPD, QGold, or TSpot)
- TB Questionnaire (required annually)
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Titer or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap – highly recommended but not required
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (includes Amphetamines, Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, Cocaine, Opiates, Methadone, PCP, Propoxyphene, THC)
- Flu Vaccine or Declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
Orientation & Onboarding
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
- Full compliance with all requirements needed to start on time; delays may result in assignment push back
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Work history verification and 2 clinical references required
Additional Notes
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Floating within facility as needed
- No call requirements
- Must review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of Medical Surgical experience, comfortable working with adult to geriatric patients, and able to comply with the outlined certifications, competencies, and health requirements.
