Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Pediatric CICU

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Night, 36 hours/week
Start Date: ASAP; ideally within 4-6 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) with possible float to Cardiac Med Surg floor.
  • Must have clear CICU/CVPICU critical care nursing experience in work history.
  • Pediatric CICU experience required (at least 1 year).
  • First-time travelers are welcome.

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years nursing experience overall; at least 1 year specifically in Pediatric CICU.
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted).
  • Certifications:
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit and role (e.g., NRP, TNCC for ER/Peds ER).

  • Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I Trauma Center and Level IV NICU.

  • Parking: Free with permit

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required on person during hours of service.
  • Background checks including county and statewide searches for Missouri and Kansas within 3 months of start.
  • E-Verify or attestation proof required.
  • Residency declaration form if working on a compact license.
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
  • Health documents including:
    • Physical exam (initial and annual)
    • Immunizations: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • TB testing and questionnaire (annual update required)
    • Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (current season required)
  • References: 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams related to pediatric nursing.
  • State-specific checks including Missouri Highway Patrol check.

Additional Notes

  • May float to assist on Cardiac Med Surg floor.
  • Scrub color: Any kid-friendly color or pattern.
  • Medication calculation/dosage test during orientation with 3 attempts allowed.
  • Facility requires acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing for RNs.
