- Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
Work Schedule & Environment
- Ratios: 1:1-2; 1:3 for intermediate care
- Must be available to work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 holidays
- Floating required to adolescents, pediatrics, PHOC, NICU units
- Locals accepted
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
- CHEMO certification (preferred)
- Other certifications as applicable based on unit assignment
Required Skills & Competencies
- CVP, CVVH, hemodynamic monitoring
- Interpret/manage EKG, PEWs
- Insulin administration/pumps
- Placement/management of NG tubes
- IV access (ports, arterial lines, central lines, PICCs)
- Procedural sedation
- IV vasopressors
- EVD, VP shunt, ICP monitoring
- HFNC, ETT, ventilators/tracheostomies
- Renal failure management, peritoneal dialysis
- Wound care, trauma care
- ECMO preferred
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start (including criminal, alias, and employment history)
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine drug screen)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions
- Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Color blindness testing if job tasks require color discrimination
- Latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- References: 2 within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and others as applicable
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge with remediation policy
- Annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation requirements
Additional Notes
- Must complete floating policy for every new assignment or site transfer
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (includes online and in-person components)
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, critical care environment with varied patient populations
- Must be able to provide proof of all required certifications and clearances prior to start
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with critical care skills and certifications, comfortable with pediatric and neonatal populations, and willing to work a flexible schedule including holidays. Prior travel experience is not required.
