Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)
Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department facility.
- Facility is close to downtown with various local activities.
- Due to high patient volume, nurse-to-patient ratios may stretch beyond 1:4 to 1:5 or more during surge periods.
Requirements
- License: Valid New York RN license.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- TNCC or ATCN (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ER staff
- NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
- Skills: Epic electronic health record system experience required.
- Additional:
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York specific)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor M/S Unit)
Health and Compliance Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with specific documentation requirements).
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (September 1 - March 31).
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination required.
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency contact form prior to start.
- Background checks including 7-year work/school history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks (updated annually).
- Education verification and Florida Education Audit Confirmation (for RN/LPN staff).
- Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to first shift.
- Facility-specific job description and welcome packet acknowledgment signed before starting.
- Professional references:
- 2 references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles.
- 1 reference for per diem non-acute care roles.
- Annual skills checklist.
