Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)

Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department facility.
• Facility is close to downtown with various local activities.
• Due to high patient volume, nurse-to-patient ratios may stretch beyond 1:4 to 1:5 or more during surge periods.

Requirements

• License: Valid New York RN license.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • TNCC or ATCN (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ER staff
  • NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
• Skills: Epic electronic health record system experience required.
• Additional:

  • Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York specific)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor M/S Unit)

Health and Compliance Documents

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with specific documentation requirements).
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (September 1 - March 31).
• Pneumonia vaccination or declination required.

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Emergency contact form prior to start.
• Background checks including 7-year work/school history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks (updated annually).
• Education verification and Florida Education Audit Confirmation (for RN/LPN staff).
• Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to first shift.
• Facility-specific job description and welcome packet acknowledgment signed before starting.
• Professional references:

  • 2 references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles.
  • 1 reference for per diem non-acute care roles.
• Annual skills checklist.

• Locals are accepted at a local bill rate.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
