Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 1+ years of experience in PACU or ICU
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., NRP, CHEMO, NIH Stroke Certification) — confirm with program coordinator
Skills and Clinical Experience
- Stage 1 & 2 recovery
- Infusions, nerve blocks, conscious sedation
- Endoscopy/bronchoscopy and scope reprocessing
- Blood transfusions
- Pre-operative care
- Charting experience with EPIC system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start (New Jersey state requirement)
- References: 2 within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Various competency exams (Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Color Blind Testing) required within 12 months of start
- Annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation completion required
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Respiratory medical clearance and fit testing mandatory prior to start
- Latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable
Additional Notes
- Must comply with facility floating policy for new assignments or site transfers
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (online and in-person portions)
- Pass/Fail testing (EKG, medication) required with remediation policy in place
- Facility-specific CEUs (Continuing Education Units) may be required depending on specialty and unit
- Candidates with name changes must provide proof and ensure all names are included in background checks and licensing documents
This position requires a highly skilled RN with critical care experience, appropriate certifications, and compliance with extensive health and safety documentation to work in a fast-paced hospital environment using EPIC charting.
