Job Opportunity: Sonographer, Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM)
Location: Arlington, Virginia

Job Description
- Temp-to-perm opportunity if a good fit; be prepared to discuss during interview.
- Candidate will undergo a preliminary screening interview followed by peer interviews.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (may shift to 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM if coverage needed).
- Start Date: ASAP
- Minimum 1 year experience in MFM required; preferred 2-3 years.
Department Details
- Work closely with MFM providers, genetic counselors, medical assistants, nurses, and patient care representatives.
- Patient volume: 50-100 patients daily across 4 MFM providers.
- Perform all OB exams and some GYN pelvic exams post-procedures.
OB Exams Include:
- First Trimester Viability
- Nuchal Translucency / First Trimester Anatomy
- Early Anatomy
- Detailed Anatomical Survey
- Third Trimester Anatomy
- Cervical Length Assessment
- Biophysical Profile
- Limited exams
- TTTS protocol with limited sonogram
- Multiples
- Ultrasound Guided Invasive Procedures (amniocentesis, CVS, D&C/D&E, Saline Sonohysterogram)
- Fetal Echo
- Doppler studies (umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery, ductus venosus, umbilical vein)
Patient Diagnoses Encountered:
- Congenital cardiac defects
- Skeletal dysplasia
- Open neural tube defects
- Fetal growth restriction
- Multiple add-ons throughout the day
Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Ultrasound Experience: OBGYN, High-risk OB, Nuchal Translucency, CVS
- Vascular Experience: Doppler Studies, M-Mode
- Equipment Experience: GE ultrasound systems
- Echo Experience: M-Mode, Fetal Echo (preferred)
- Certifications: RDMS-OB, NT (Nuchal Translucency)
- Minimum 2-3 years of MFM experience
General Skills
- PACS and portable ultrasound equipment proficiency
Schedule & Attire
- Scrub color: Navy pants, Ceil Blue top
- EPIC training: Online Day 1
Vaccination Requirements
- COVID-19: Must be fully vaccinated or have a qualified exemption.
- Flu: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31). Medical exemptions require a recent doctor’s note and mask-wearing when within 6 feet of patients. Religious exemptions require agency approval and documentation.

- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start and for renewals
