Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Specialty: Surgical Services
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM), rotating days
- Call Requirements:
- Weeknight call 1-2 nights per week on average
- Weekend call every 1-2 weekends on average
- Block scheduling is not allowed
- Case Load: 3-6 cases per day
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR Tech experience
- Experience with CVOR cases including:
- CABG, MVR, AVR, Aortic Root, Aortic Dissection
- LVAD, Heart Transplant, Lung Transplant
- Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Scrubs experience required
- General Surgery experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience highly preferred
- DaVinci surgical system experience highly preferred
- BLS certification required
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
- State License verification required prior to start
- Tech Certification verification (national)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- NURSYS verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP) as applicable
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start, including:
- SSN trace, education verification, federal enhanced search, sex offender registry, and more
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly
- State-specific registry checks (Nebraska DHHS Adult & Child Services Registry) required
- Education verification required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years (or 1 if not a current traveler)
- Annual skills checklist required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+)
- Tdap/Tetanus vaccine within last 10 years
- Annual PPD or equivalent TB testing, with chest x-ray if history positive
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer, boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B titer required (declination acceptable if non-reactive)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer, boosters if needed
- Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually (urine panel including multiple substances)
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID-19 vaccine preferred; medical or religious exemptions accepted
- Baseline eye exam (Snellen) required within 30 days of start for OR staff
Additional Notes
- This position is at a top-rated acute-care teaching hospital with a high volume of complex cases
- Candidates must be willing to comply with all credentialing, licensing, and health requirements prior to start
- Block scheduling is not permitted, so flexibility in shift rotation is necessary
This role is ideal for experienced CVOR Techs seeking a challenging surgical environment with a variety of complex cardiac and transplant cases.
