PACU Registered Nurse

Employment Type: Travel/Contract Location: West Islip, New York Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:00 to 18:30
• 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Unit is open Monday through Friday only; no weekends

Job Details

• Assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, recover, and manage overall care for cardiology patients.
• Partner with an interdisciplinary team, including attending physicians, RNs, and ancillary staff, to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
• Advocate for patients and their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience of at least 1 year
• PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
• CCU (Coronary Care) experience
• CTICU (Cardiothoracic Intensive Care) experience
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Background Checks and Verifications

• 7-year background check, completed within 30 days of start and updated annually, including county, national sex offender, national criminal, FACIS Level 3, OFAC, and OMIG searches. Instant state and county searches are not acceptable.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, run within 30 days prior to start
• New York State Medicaid Exclusion List check, run within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
• Education verification; a diploma is acceptable if third-party verification is unavailable, and a transcript or diploma copy is acceptable in lieu of verification
• Driver's license or state ID with address and a clear picture

Health Requirements

• Physical examination on the facility-specific form, completed and signed by a physician within 30 days of start (cannot be done onsite; must be initiated within 24 to 48 hours of offer acceptance and updated annually)
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, T-Spot, or PPD) within 1 year of start, or a clear chest X-ray within the past 12 months if positive
• Immunity for measles (rubeola), mumps, rubella, and varicella, shown by a positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines
• Hepatitis B antibody and antigen results; proof of the 3-dose series alone is not sufficient
• Standard 9-panel drug screen, completed within 30 days prior to start (rapid drug tests not allowed; updated annually)
• Fit test with Halyard Fluidshield N95 or 3M 1860 mask, completed within 12 months of start (cannot be done onsite)
• Flu vaccine from October 1 to April 30 (declinations allowed; exemptions reviewed case by case for religious or medical reasons only); deadline for all candidates is 11/20
