Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:30 AM – 03:00 PM
Job Summary
As an Endoscopy Registered Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to patients in the GI Lab / Endoscopy setting. Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning and implementing individualized care plans, documentation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. You will collaborate with healthcare team members and maintain high standards of care, safety, and ethical practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing, systematic patient assessments focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status.
- Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and expected patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement prioritized, goal-directed care plans.
- Identify and address patient and family learning needs.
- Document care accurately and timely in patient records.
- Respond efficiently and calmly in emergency situations following established protocols.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Participate in staff development and maintain current nursing knowledge.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Incorporate hourly rounding into daily practice.
- Demonstrate accountability and ethical decision-making in patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist and core competency exams (minimum 80% score).
- Current and valid driver's license or state ID.
- Background check including national and county criminal searches within the last 7 years.
- Drug screening (9+ panel) within 30 days of start.
- Health and immunization requirements:
- COVID-19 vaccine (optional, or agency declination)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity proof or vaccination series
- Varicella immunity proof or vaccination series
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series, or specific declination form
- Influenza vaccine or declination with mask requirement during assignment
- Tuberculosis testing (PPD or Quantiferon within last 12 months) and follow-up if positive
- Tdap vaccine preferred (within last 10 years) or declination form
- Physical/Health statement from an approved provider within the last 12 months, including vital signs and vision screening.
- Fit testing for approved respirator models within the last 12 months.
- Submission of a recent color headshot photo.
- Completion of agency-specific documentation including job description acknowledgment, code of conduct, sexual harassment acknowledgement, and other required forms.
- Verification of employment history for the last 7 years, including references.
