Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Night Shift)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Description

  • Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately
  • Serve as primary coordinator for all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care
  • Follow physician and nursing orders
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with healthcare team members

Required Qualifications

Licensure

  • Current RN license in Indiana with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start

Certifications (must be AHA approved)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Certification
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (8-hour course, updated every 2 years)

Exams and Testing

  • Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years, max 2 attempts)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA; minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years, max 2 attempts)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)

Health and Immunizations

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
  • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required
  • Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start
  • TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within 1 year, and TB questionnaire completed; updated annually
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Background and Verification

  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of assignment
  • Employment Verification for past 7 years, updated annually
  • Education Verification within 90 days of start
  • Professional References: At least two qualifying references prior to first assignment

Other Requirements

  • Driver’s License/State ID valid and matching address requirements
  • Completion of onboarding requirements including nursing contract worker onboarding and education attestations
