Job Description

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Surgery
• Facility: Acute care setting requiring surgical nursing skills

Required Credentials & Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
• Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• License/Certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• Ascension-specific competencies and exams including:

  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics) - completed within a year, updated yearly
  • Ascension EKG Exam - passing score required
  • Ascension Skills Checklist - clinical skills verification within one year, updated annually
• Health and vaccination requirements:

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccines (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted
  • TB Testing: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within a year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit Test: Required annually, preferred prior to start
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 30 days prior to start
• Drug Screening: 12 panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Professional Requirements

• Resume/Profile submission required
• At least two professional references prior to first assignment
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days prior to start
• Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start
• Employment verification for the past seven years
• Driver’s License/State ID matching home state for compact license holders
• Ascension-specific onboarding and education attestations and checklists
