Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)


Job Summary

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans; assess and communicate patient conditions.
  • Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-organized patient management.
  • Follow physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning with the healthcare team.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently in a stressful environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment and follow standard precautions as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

  • Signed assignment agreement.
  • Completion of specialty and pharmacology competency exams with minimum 80% passing score (limited attempts).
  • Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics.
  • Passing scores on EKG exam and Cerner test-out.
  • Completion of unit-specific checklist (optional).
  • Health and immunization requirements including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
    • Tdap valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Influenza vaccine or mask requirement during flu season
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
    • TB screening with 2-step PPD or IGRA and annual questionnaire
    • Fit test for respiratory protection (annual)
  • Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Background checks including criminal, employment, and professional references.
  • Verification of education and employment history.
  • Submission of driver's license or state ID matching address requirements.
  • Submission of a professional profile/resume and at least two professional references.
  • Onsite onboarding and completion of required pre-hire modules and attestations.
  • Recent health statement or physical exam confirming good health.
  • Badge photo (headshot with white or blue background).

Additional Notes

  • Flu season mask policy applies if vaccine is declined.
  • Some exams and certifications require renewal every 3 years.
  • Background and credential verifications must be current and updated annually or after breaks in service longer than 90 days.

This position is ideal for experienced PCU RNs comfortable with critical care coordination and working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
