Job Opportunity: Central Sterile Technician
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Responsible for performing sterilization procedures on medical instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures, infection control standards, industry standards, recommended practices on sterilization, and regulatory requirements.
Patient Care: Not required
Essential Functions
- Process specialty and general instruments
- Reset instrument sets without error
- Decontaminate instruments and equipment according to procedure
- Maintain Central Sterile Department stock levels
- Prepare and assemble surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings for issue, storage, or further processing
- Communicate instrument repair needs to supervisor
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
- Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year
Required Credentials and Health Requirements (Must be completed prior to or at onboarding)
- Color photo (recent, professional headshot)
- License/Certificate verification (Primary source verification within 30 days of start)
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30)
- TB test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
- Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start
- Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start
- Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience
- Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above)
- Skills checklist
- Confirmation of assignment form upon acceptance
- Education verification
- Social Security Number trace
- National sex offender check within 30 days of start
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days of start
