Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Wear appropriate surgical attire.
- Understand sepsis and aseptic techniques (training provided).
- Perform cleaning duties including wiping down lights, booms, tables, and between-case and terminal room cleaning.
- Transport patients and beds safely to/from Holding Room and Operating Room.
- Assist with patient transfers to/from the operating room table.
- Obtain supplies, equipment, or medication promptly.
- Stock assigned areas and maintain oxygen and carbon dioxide tanks.
- Perform weekly cleaning of x-ray aprons and storage rooms.
- Assist families to consult rooms when no volunteer is available.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and facility operations.
- Take personal responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician certification (NBSTSA certification required; only recognized certification in South Carolina).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only).
- Valid state license/certification verification for Certified Surgical Technician.
- Proof of immunizations with lab documentation (no declinations accepted):
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Hepatitis B (2 vaccinations or titer)
- Varicella (2 immunizations or titer)
- Influenza vaccine recommended during September-April (medical/religious exemptions considered).
- Fit test for respiratory protection (required for all travelers, make/model within one year of start).
- Tuberculosis screening:
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within 1 year and 30 days of start, or negative Q-Gold/Tspot test.
- Annual negative PPD or TB questionnaire as applicable.
- Social Security Card copy required.
- Valid driver's license or state ID.
- Criminal background check covering last 7 years, updated annually.
- Employment verification for 5 years.
- 10 panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start.
- Clinical skills checklist (completed prior to start and updated annually).
- Resume or professional profile; references preferred but not required.
- Confirmation of assignment and PTO summary prior to start.
