Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license in Texas
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (1 year of experience)
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant experience within the last year
• Experience in a(n) Long Term Care or Rehabilitation setting
• Occupational Therapist Assistant experience

Job Responsibilities

• Provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist
• Administers ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices
• Assesses patient progress and communicates with the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments
• Reports treatment effectiveness to the supervising Occupational Therapist
• Provides consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers
• Communicates with the supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans
• Provides input for discharge summary of services provided
• Documents required information in the electronic documentation system and maintains patient records according to company policy
• Records treatment minutes accurately
• Participates in required meetings, trainings, in-services, and conferences
• Works with the supervising Occupational Therapist to obtain necessary DME or supplies
• Supervises and supports students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist

Additional Notes

• Adherence to NBCOT / AOTA and state-required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics is expected
• Productivity expectations are 90-93% for assistants
