Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Leominster, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position: Well-rounded Emergency Department (ED) Nurse
• Unit includes a psychiatric holding area within the ED
• Float between two nearby campuses required
• Patient ratio approximately 1:5
• Charting system: Epic
• Scheduling based on unit needs; no block schedules allowed
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend and holidays
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Flexibility required to start up to 4 hours before or after scheduled shift start due to critical department needs
• No on-call requirements
• Orientation includes 2 pass/fail tests for telemetry and medication; must pass with minimum 80% on first attempt to avoid cancellation
• Return to Office (RTO) requests for July only approved for 1-2 days; start date must be on or before July 13

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued ID required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national and state-specific searches, and education verification
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance required within 30 days prior to start
• Education verification of highest completed education required
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
• Drug testing within 30 days prior to start (specific drug panels required)
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or facility-specific declination)
  • Influenza (seasonal vaccine or declination)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
• TB testing: Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within a year) or equivalent blood test; positive TB requires chest X-ray and questionnaire
• References: Two references within the last three years
• Employment application covering 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually

Additional Information

• Candidates must be prepared for pass/fail testing during orientation (medication and telemetry exams)
• Telemetry exam is not required for OR, Psychiatry, Mother-Baby/Postpartum, and NICU units
• Scheduling is flexible but no block scheduling allowed
• Float between two campuses in close proximity is required
