Registered Nurse – PCU/Oncology (Travel/Contract)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours each per week, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48
Unit & Patient Population
- 24-bed progressive care unit within a cancer center
- Patient types: adult progressive surgical, oncology, palliative care, and progressive acute care patients receiving chemotherapy
- Drip infusions required on all floors
Job Responsibilities & Work Environment
- Frequent floating required to meet staffing needs, including to multiple units and potentially a different campus
- Units floated to may include neuro, trauma, observation, transplant, stroke, and others
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs
- Facility is 100% nicotine-free
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat)
- Holiday requirement: work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s)
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted if in hand before start; otherwise booking delayed 6 weeks)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
- EPIC electronic charting experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA standards)
- First-time travel nurses not accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- Must be willing and able to float within scope of practice
- Candidate must live more than 100 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
Certifications & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county and federal checks
- Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually
- Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if positive history
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if low/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if low/equivocal)
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted
- Annual skills checklist required
- 2 professional references from work within past 2 years
Additional Information
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Scrubs mandatory: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply
- Up to two weeks of return-to-office (RTO) time permitted, with manager approval for additional requests
