Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Nights

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Must float within scope to meet facility needs between like units
• Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating block scheduling
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
• Pending License: Not accepted
• Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; all contracted shifts thereafter guaranteed
• Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
• Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (one extension allowed), then must be gone for 6 months before returning
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Background and Verification Requirements

• Background check required within 6 months of start date (includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable)
• Education verification related to specialty required (diploma or transcript acceptable if education verification is unperformable)
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Physical exam: Must be signed by a physician, NP, or PA-C and updated annually
• TB screening: Negative PPD, Q Gold, or T-spot within 1 year of start (chest x-ray required if positive PPD)
• Immunizations:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within last 10 years (no declinations accepted for new hires)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines required)
  • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines required)
  • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted)
• Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but accepted if available

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual renewal required)
• Pass/Fail Testing for EKG/Medication competency (3 attempts allowed with remediation between attempts; failure results in cancellation)

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

• Professional appearance and confidentiality agreements must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., agency personnel form, emergency contact, patient identification, conflict of interest, staff call out, corporate code of conduct, computer use, parking registration) must be completed before starting
• Photo for badge: Professional passport-style photo required with no large earrings, face jewelry, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings (unless religious)
• Orientation: Expect to be in orientation for most of the first day (Monday)
• Modules: Must be completed through facility’s system prior to start (due the Monday before start date)

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required
• Candidates must be able to work nights and meet weekend requirements
• Floating between similar units is expected within scope of practice
