Job Description

• Requires experience in Medical ICU (MICU) and/or Surgical ICU (SICU).
• Not an entry-level position; must be independent and competent managing complex, high-acuity medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients.
• Prefer candidates available for rotating shifts to accommodate fluctuating census; block schedules for day/night shifts may be considered.
• No rotating shifts allowed within 48 hours.
• Floating primarily within Critical Care Division; may float to other units as needed.
• Weekend shifts vary based on unit needs.

Shift Details

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana.
• Minimum of 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications (as applicable to ICU RN)

• ACLS (required)
• BLS (required)
• Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI are not required for this ICU role but may be relevant for other specialties.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 30 days of start; must be renewed annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Education verification of highest level completed.
• NURSYS license verification required within 30 days of start.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.
• Quantitative fit test with a 3M mask within 90 days prior to start (qualitative tests not accepted; must be clean-shaven). Annual renewal required. Religious exemptions evaluated case-by-case.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual renewal.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap preferred within 10 years or signed declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31); declinations accepted with proper documentation.
• COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required.

Drug Testing

• Negative drug screen within 30 days of start; must be renewed annually.
• Testing includes a comprehensive 9-panel plus additional substances (e.g., Amphetamines, Cocaine, Opiates, Fentanyl, etc.).

References and Employment History

• Two references required, including one direct supervisor reference within the last year. Letters accepted.
• Employment application covering 7 years required, with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Employment verification preferred for the last 5 years.

Additional Notes

• Floating assignments primarily within Critical Care but may include other units as census demands.
• Weekend shift requirements vary.
• No rotating shifts within 48 hours of each other.
