Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Billings, Montana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work on Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit.
- Must be experienced in labor, delivery, and postpartum care; will care for mother-baby couplets.
- Float to Pediatrics and NICU required; may "safety sit" on any unit as needed.
- Call requirement: 3-4 call shifts per 8-week block.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Montana.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year.
- Postpartum experience.
- One completed travel assignment.
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Prior Travel Experience
- Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Current and valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport).
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal background check (must be renewed annually).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Education verification of highest level completed.
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Two references required, including one direct supervisor reference within the last year.
- Employment verification preferred for last 5 years.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive 9-panel plus additional substances; must be renewed annually.
- Quantitative fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start (qualitative tests not accepted). Must be clean-shaven; religious exemptions evaluated case-by-case.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (or declination within last year)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap preferred within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual renewal.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 – Mar 31), with exemptions accepted.
- COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required.
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to float to Pediatrics and NICU units.
- Call shifts are mandatory as part of the schedule.
- Locals and first-time travel nurses will not be considered for this position.

Management has a lot to be desired. They have their “favorites”. Don’t try to change anything because they have done things the same way forever and if you suggest options it will place a target on your back. Places with many travelers is not a good sign. Also sign on bonuses should be a red flag.
