Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract
Location: Glen Burnie, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: June 15, 2026
Shift: Nights (3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts; 20:00 - 08:30)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
Patient Population: Adult/Geriatric
Unit Census: Approximately 40-42 patients across 22 rooms (42 beds)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity patients
Job Description
- Night shift Registered Nurse for Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
- Floating required within specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed
- On-call not required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and Maryland State Exclusions List
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Fit test for respirator mask within 1 year of start (annual updates required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with children)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination proof)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
- TB screening: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year, or 2-step PPD as applicable; TB questionnaire if positive
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required for this location, but documentation collected for tracking
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥80%) within 1 year of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥80%) within 1 year of start
- Age-specific competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Color blindness testing (required for clinical roles)
References & Employment History
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (charge RNs, supervisors, or managers)
- Employment verification for previous 5 years (attestation accepted if necessary)
- Agency application/resume completed within 30 days of start
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to start (time not reimbursed)
- Facility badge photo required (passport-style with solid white/beige background)
- Completion of security ID application within 72 hours of contract signing
- Completion of confidentiality agreement and dress code review prior to start
- Completion of vehicle identification form prior to start
- Completion of Pyxis access request form after learning modules
- Review of Epic training and possible test-out option based on prior Epic experience
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers with strong skills may be considered at manager discretion
- Floating may include sister units and lower acuity areas
- No on-call responsibilities
- Patient acuity includes adult and geriatric populations on a telemetry/medical-surgical unit
