Job Opportunity: EP Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week (Monday, Tuesday [Cath Lab], Wednesday, Thursday)
Hours: 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week


Job Description

  • Position requires experience in Electrophysiology (EP) and Cath Lab. Candidates with adult-only Cath Lab experience will be considered.
  • Schedule includes Cath Lab duties on Tuesday.
  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a supervisor or manager. Charge RN reference acceptable as one supervisor reference. Peer references are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio (State or Compact RN license).
  • EP and Cath Lab clinical experience required.
  • Higher years of specialty experience should be met (not explicitly stated, but EP and Cath Lab experience is mandatory).
  • Two professional references, including one supervisor/manager reference.
  • Current government-issued photo ID matching legal name on RN license and certifications. Temporary IDs or paper licenses are not acceptable.
  • Must meet all background and compliance requirements as outlined below.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including a 7-year county search and education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
  • International background check if candidate has lived or worked internationally in the past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract. Fingerprints must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing contract.
  • Sex offender search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification required, including official transcript if in-house verification is incomplete. Special approval needed if nursing diploma is not ASN/BSN.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start, including amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, methadone, phencyclidine, fentanyl. Must be initiated within 72 hours of signed contract.
  • Employment application and copy of resume required.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certification required.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU RNs.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required as applicable.
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Required as applicable.
  • National technical certification verification as applicable.

All certifications must be current, issued by AHA or American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) where applicable, and must match the legal name on RN license exactly. Screenshots or photos are not accepted.


Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (candidates sign Infection Control Policy in lieu of physical copy).
  • TB testing: Two PPDs (first within 12 months, second within 90 days) or QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months. For positive TB results, additional documentation and treatment required. TB testing not required annually unless there is a break in assignment or specialty/unit change.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start (must be completed after age 11). Tdap titer not accepted in place of vaccine record.
  • Flu vaccine required annually between October 31 and May 31. Medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval and completion of exemption policy document. Declinations not accepted.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity required via positive titer or two vaccines. Religious exemptions not accepted. If titers are negative or equivocal, two boosters required with at least 28 days between doses.
  • Varicella immunity required via positive titer or two vaccines. Negative or equivocal titers require two boosters.
  • Hepatitis B immunity required via completed vaccine series, positive titer, or declination if titer is negative/equivocal.
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start.
  • N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually. Candidates with beards must either shave or be fitted for PAPR/CAPR. Fit testing documentation must be provided; photos/screenshots not accepted.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates with Ohio driver’s licenses must have an address more than 60 miles from the facility to be considered non-local.
  • Legal name on all documents must match RN license and certifications exactly; no nicknames or aliases allowed.
  • Candidates undergoing a legal name change must provide proof.
  • Fingerprint results may pend at start; facility can complete fingerprints onsite if necessary.
  • Candidates must complete all required documentation and compliance steps within specified timeframes to maintain eligibility.
