Medical Lab Technician Travel/Contract Position
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evening (1:00 PM – 9:30 PM), 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (40 hours/week)
Schedule: Includes rotating weekends
Travel Requirement: Prior travel experience required; no local candidates
Job Description
- Position based at Mid City campus
- Evening shift with rotating weekends
- Travel/contract assignment
Required Qualifications
- Valid Medical Lab Technician license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Lab Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physician’s statement of general physical health within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Annual respirator fit testing (fit mask) with mask size documented
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year, with additional documentation if PPD converter or BCG vaccinated; annual renewal required
- TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of TB test renewal
- Influenza vaccination documentation or approved medical/religious exemption form (exemptions require provider signature and supporting documentation)
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation or approved medical/religious exemption form (facility-specific forms required)
Competencies and Certifications
- Competency exams as required by profession/specialty
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is not required for Medical Lab Technician
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of Healthstream courses assigned during orientation, including glucose testing return demonstration before performing accuchecks
- Signed System Access and Confidentiality Agreement prior to start
Additional Notes
- Flu vaccination is not required for employment but may be required for Aya standards; vaccine or declination form should be obtained and kept on file
