NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work every other week (EOW) with 50% holiday coverage and floating within the cluster.
  • Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients.
  • Charting system: Cerner.
  • Position requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs.
  • Exposure to contagious illnesses is routine.
  • Facility operates 24/7, requiring rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather.
  • Must be able to:
    • Work full contract term at assigned location
    • Work substantial portion of assigned shifts
    • Take call
    • Work assigned weekends
    • Work at least 50% of holidays during contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Additional Requirements

  • Photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required.
  • Professional references: 2 required within last 2 years (not necessarily supervisors).
  • Resume must document at least 7 years of employment history with no gaps over 30 days.
  • Completion of facility-specific forms and acknowledgments within 60 days of start, including confidentiality and access agreements.
  • Must complete orientation safety manual acknowledgment and competency exams as applicable.

Physical and Work Environment

  • Active role requiring physical stamina and ability to move heavy objects.
  • Exposure to contagious diseases is common.
  • Must be flexible to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather.

This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in Missouri.
