Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work primarily on Neuro Surgery, Neuro/Telemetry, ENT Surgery, and Orthopedic overflow units.
• Requires passing two pass/fail exams at orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry exam (one attempt allowed each). Failure to pass results in immediate contract cancellation. Study materials provided before orientation.
• Minimal Return to Office (RTO) requirement: 2-3 days.
• Charting experience with Epic is required.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI Release (background check authorization).
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and federal exclusions. Annual update required for direct hires.
• Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable).
• Required health documents within specified timeframes:

  • Physical exam within 12 months, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable.
  • Immunizations or declinations for: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu, COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or facility-specific declination). Declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU where specified.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Pass/fail medication and telemetry exams on first day of orientation with minimum 80% score required.

Competency Exams & Additional Testing

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for all RNs.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 6 months of start and annually thereafter for RNs working in acute care, critical care, endoscopy/cath lab, PACU, and telemetry units. Failure to pass the onsite EKG exam results in immediate cancellation.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required or completed on site.
• Color blind testing not required for this role.

Work Environment & Other Details

• Work location: 55 Lake Ave N, Worcester, MA.
• Night shift with 36 hours per week (3 shifts x 12 hours).
• Weekend coverage every other weekend.
• Units include Neuro Surgery, ENT Surgery, Orthopedics overflow, and Telemetry.
