Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Mixed Acuity (Medical Surgical/Telemetry & Stepdown)
  • Unit: 48-bed unit specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery
  • Patient Population: Strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, neurological conditions
  • Patient Load: Up to 5 Med Surg patients per RN
  • Ratios:
    • Medical Surgical/Telemetry: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights
    • Stepdown: 1:3-4 (days and nights)
  • Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Contract Options: 13 or 26 weeks

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of prior RN experience in a large, urban hospital
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Experience with drips on all floors required
  • First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
  • Must float within scope to meet facility needs (may include multiple units and potentially Bellevue campus)
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
  • Locals NOT accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
  • Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking will be delayed 6 weeks
  • Scrubs are mandatory (specific color and branding required)
  • Weekends: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat)
  • Up to 2 weeks of Return to Office (RTO) permitted, subject to manager approval

Team Composition

  • Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics
  • LPNs assigned on some floors

Facility Notes

  • 100% nicotine-free facility
  • Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking option

Certifications & Compliance

  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP as applicable per unit (AHA required)
  • NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
  • State License verification and NURSYS verification required
  • Background check including federal enhanced search, SSN trace, education verification, and state-specific registry checks
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start and annually thereafter
  • Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations required: Tdap, MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B titer, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer), annual flu vaccine documentation preferred
  • COVID-19 vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted
  • Annual skills checklist required
  • References: 2 work references from past 2 years (or 1 if not a current traveler)

Additional Notes

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • Eye exam required for OR staff within 30 days of start
  • Candidates must complete online consent forms and registry searches as part of onboarding
