Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Spokane, Washington

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Orientation & Scheduling
- Orientation sessions are bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
- Remaining 2025 orientation dates: 10/21, 11/04, 11/18, 12/2, 12/16, 12/30.
- ER RNs must complete 1 unit orientation shift for the region.
- Work locations include Sacred Heart and/or Holy Family.
- Shifts are posted within 12–48 hours of need; no pre-booking of shifts.
Requirements
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience (within last 3 years) in ER or comparable specialty.
- Certifications required:
- BLS (AHA certified)
- ACLS (AHA certified)
- PALS (AHA certified)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU, ER, Tele/PCU RNs)
- EPIC electronic health record experience required.
- Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years. Charge RNs acceptable if they directly supervised.
- Must complete Providence-specific orientation and training modules.

- Charting System: EPIC
- Medication System: Pyxis
Compliance & Documentation
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Fit mask testing required for travel nurses (not required for Per Diem after 5/20/24).
- Respirator safety clearance required for travel nurses (not required for Per Diem).
Licensing & Verification
- Valid Washington RN license required.
- NURSYS verification required.
- State-specific background checks and registry searches as applicable.
- Education verification required for nursing degree.
- References and employment history must be verifiable and complete.
Additional Training & Competencies
- Must complete Providence WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Core modules for all caregivers
- Specialty-specific modules for ER and other relevant units
- Annual regulatory modules
- EPIC training modules must be completed within one week of orientation.
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists as applicable.
- Must complete Providence PD Unit Orientation Checklist before moving to active status.
Scheduling & Float Policy
- Must acknowledge and comply with Providence float policy; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
Notes
- Separation policy: 3-month separation required between going staff and per diem or travel assignments.
- Most shifts are short notice; flexibility is essential.
- Per Diem status means no guaranteed hours; shifts are assigned as needed.
This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses who are flexible, have strong EPIC skills, and meet Providence Health and Services' rigorous credentialing and compliance standards.
