Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU
Location
- Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type
- Travel / Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15)
- Total 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nebraska
- Minimum 3 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- At least one year of experience in a large (>500 bed) Level 1 Trauma, Academic Medical Center
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 30 days of start, updated annually, including:
- Criminal history across all counties lived/worked/attended school in past 7 years
- Sex offender registry, federal checks, education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and monthly thereafter
- Primary source verification of state license prior to start
- Annual skills checklist required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years (or 1 if not a current traveler)
- State-specific registry search (Nebraska DHHS Adult and Child Services Registry) within 30 days of start
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+)
- Immunizations and testing:
- Tdap/Tetanus vaccine within last 10 years
- Annual PPD or equivalent TB testing; chest x-ray if history of positive PPD
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal titers)
- Hepatitis B titer (declination acceptable if non-reactive)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal titers)
- Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually (specific panel required)
- Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required
- COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemption or declination accepted
Additional Notes
- No overtime allowed until after 48 hours worked
- Parking permits available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required before start
- NIH Stroke Certification, Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam, Color Blind Testing, and other competency exams required as applicable
