Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience to provide respiratory and neuro diagnostic care. This is a travel contract position requiring flexibility and the ability to float to various hospital floors including nursery and ER.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Experience working with Neonate patients
• Experience working with Adult patients
• Experience with Epic EMR system

Work Schedule & Environment

• Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts, either 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Scheduling: Rotating schedule with weekend requirements every other weekend; flexible to meet department needs
• Floating: Required to float to hospital floors including nursery and ER
• Patient Population: Neonates through adults (age range 0-100+)
• Unit Type: Respiratory Therapy, Level 2 Trauma Center
• Special Equipment: Puritan Bennett 980 & 840, LTV1200 ventilators available 24/7 for support

Dress Code & Appearance

• Scrubs in black or ceil blue
• Closed, non-skid shoes
• Minimal jewelry, follow hospital dress code policy
• Groomed hair/beard; no beard if wearing N95 mask
• Nail polish per hospital policy

Additional Requirements & Information

• Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
• Complete and detailed work history required (including bed count, EMR, facility type)
• Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation
• Vehicle should have all-season or snow tires from November to April

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification as applicable
• Drug testing within 12 months (required for NY facilities)
• Physical exam within 12 months (required for VT facilities)
• N95 Fit Test prior to assignment and annually
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or exemption (seasonal requirement)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination (for NY placements)
• Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start
• Compliance with facility-specific policies including dress code, telephone usage, and COVID testing protocols

References & Verification

• Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years
• Verification of 2 years of most recent clinical work history
• Skills checklist within 12 months

Notes

• No block schedules allowed
• IVS (Intravenous Start) skills offered but not required
• Must be flexible with schedule and weekend coverage
• Must complete all required facility-specific forms and consents in a timely manner
