Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 17 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room to work with a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity surgical environment. The role involves planning patient care, coordinating operating room activities, and ensuring safe, competent, and efficient perioperative care.


Specialty

  • Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room
  • Experience with general surgery procedures including HIPEC, Whipple, trauma, colectomy, burns, laparoscopic, Davinci Xi, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia, and procurements.
  • Preferred experience with kidney transplant cases.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must hold a Wisconsin nursing license or a compact license from the nurse’s permanent address state.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications required, both must be American Heart Association (AHA) issued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the surgical team to plan and deliver patient care in the operating room.
  • Communicate and coordinate OR activities to ensure efficient surgical case progression and turnover.
  • Provide safe and competent care according to policies, procedures, and standards for perioperative patients.

Facility & Work Environment

  • Permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site.
  • Floating is expected; travelers may be assigned shifts in multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs.
  • The facility is a Magnet®-designated hospital and a leading teaching and referral center.

Compliance & Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
  • Acute Care experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with adult patients
  • Experience working with pediatric patients

  • Parking permit required if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available.
  • Strict adherence to facility policies on certifications, testing, and immunizations is mandatory.
  • Candidates must complete all required documentation and screenings prior to start date.
