Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Job Summary

• Deliver coordinated nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and nursing process.
• Supervise and direct activities of assigned nursing staff.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines using critical thinking, professional judgment, and supervisory discretion.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum of 1 year of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, HS-BLS, or RQIBLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Essential Functions

• Collect and analyze patient health data to determine diagnosis and care issues.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide safe, effective care.
• Provide education to patients, families, and team members.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegate and coordinate duties among healthcare team members.

Compliance & Organizational Requirements

• Must comply with all required vaccinations as a condition of employment; medical and religious exemptions may apply.
• Background checks covering the last 7 years required prior to start.
• Drug testing required within 30 days before start.
• Physical exam required within 90 days of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 30 days of start and updated annually.
• Immunizations or documented immunity required for: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.

Additional Requirements

• Current picture identification required.
• Color photo (passport style) required for badge.
• Must complete orientation, privacy/security, confidentiality, code of conduct, and compliance education acknowledgements prior to start.
• Required to wear navy blue scrubs; scrubs provided for Labor & Delivery and OR nurses.
• Must complete unit-specific skills checklist.
• References: 2 clinical references verified within one year of start.
• Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required.

Notes

• N95 fit testing preferred; accommodations for PAPR use require approved medical or religious exemption.
• Some certifications and competencies require annual renewal.
• Facility-specific training and quizzes must be completed prior to start.
