Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Schedule: Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Float Requirement: Must float to different units within the organization as needed
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
  • Preferred Unit: PCU preferred; will consider Med-Surg RN

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, with PCU experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current RN license valid in Ohio
  • BCLS (Basic Life Support)
  • EPIC experience required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
  • Other certifications may be unit-specific (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) — verify per assignment

Required Competencies

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
  • Unit-specific competency exams
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (except certain excluded units)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 90 days of start)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Proof of fingerprinting completion required (in-state or out-of-state procedures apply)
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declined
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leader
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • License verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

This position offers a challenging PCU travel nursing opportunity with rotating shifts and floating responsibilities in a large healthcare system. Candidates must meet strict credentialing, background, and health requirements prior to assignment start.
