Job Description
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in a clinic setting using comprehensive nursing processes.
- Perform patient assessments, develop and implement nursing care plans, provide patient education, and conduct ongoing evaluations.
- Deliver holistic, individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers through timely communication.
- Experience with scrub and circulate duties required.
- Clinical experience needed in neuro, Da Vinci robotic surgery, total joint, and spine cases.
Shift Details
- 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (variable start times: 6:45 AM - 11:00 AM, typically 7 AM, 9 AM, or 11 AM).
- Rotating weekends and overtime support required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum 5 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including scrub and circulate roles.
- OR Scrub RN experience within the last year.
- Experience with neuro, Da Vinci robotic surgery, total joint, and spine procedures.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by AHA or ARC.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification.
- NIH Stroke Certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications (as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC preferred.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC, verify by position.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP, instructor or advanced provider course, verify by position.
- CCRN (Critical Care RN) - verify by position.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - valid for 4 years, verify by position.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - typically for Labor & Delivery, verify by position.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - verify by position.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including social security trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screenings.
- Education verification required; BSN preferred.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually (exceptions apply).
- Negative drug test and immunization documentation must be current and compliant.
Additional Requirements
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps, including city and state of employment.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
- Competency exams as applicable (medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry).
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter.
- References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical acute care roles.
