Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Beckley, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Minimum 2 years current experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred.
• Must float within scope of practice.
• Every other weekend shift required.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Schedule typically follows a 36/48 hour rotation over a two-week pay period.
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Current West Virginia RN license or a compact RN license.
• Certifications required:

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RN specialties except OR and Psych)
• Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license).
• Must pass background checks and drug screening as per facility requirements.
• Required competencies include:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (not required for Psych, OR, Rehab, or true Med Surg units)
  • Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III)
• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP, stating clearance to work without restrictions.
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof of vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (must be applied for within 48 hours of offer acceptance)
• Annual drug testing with specific panel requirements.
• References: Two professional references within 1 year of start date required (one must be a supervisor or higher).
• Work history verification for the past 7 years required.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete all required attestations and verifications prior to start.
• Float and weekend shifts are mandatory.
• Blocked scheduling is not allowed.

This position requires a dedicated ICU Registered Nurse with solid clinical experience, appropriate certifications, and the ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and floating within the unit.
