Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Leominster, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit primarily cares for medical ICU patients.
• Float assignments include Extended Care Unit (ECU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), or Emergency Department (ED) for boarder assignment.
• Shift flexibility required: ability to start up to 4 hours before or after scheduled start time based on critical department needs.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend and holidays.
• Scheduling is based on unit needs; no block schedules available.
• Charting system: Epic.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• Tech Cert Verification - National.
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing.
• State License 1 Verification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
• Pass/Fail Testing for EKG and Medication competency.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to float to multiple units including CCU, ECU, and ED.
• Must pass medication and telemetry competency exams (if working in telemetry units).
• Must pass a dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 6 months of start and annually thereafter if applicable.
• Physical exam required within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history and education verification required.
• Drug testing required within 30 days of start.
• Immunizations and/or declinations required for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
  • Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal requirement)
  • Hepatitis B
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
• TB testing and questionnaire required.
• References: 2 within the last 3 years.
• Employment application must cover 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.

Work Environment

• Location: Hospital setting in Leominster, MA.
• Patient population: Critically ill medical ICU patients.
• Float assignments may include critical care and emergency settings.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with critical care skills who are flexible with scheduling and unit assignments.
