Additional Requirements & Information
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, nationwide checks, sex offender, federal extended, and FACIS Level 3. Must be updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually (minimum score 80%).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually (minimum score 80%).
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) required and must be updated annually.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency).
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 3 months of start) and annual TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters if titer low
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters if titer low
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required annually (with exemptions and declinations accepted)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on start date).
- Employee appearance policy and flu declination forms must be acknowledged.
- State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years Operating Room experience
- Minimum 2 years Neurology experience, with experience within the last year
- Experience in Plastic Surgery
- Experience in Orthopedic Surgery
- Robotics surgery experience
- Neuro surgery experience
- Plastic surgery experience
- Orthopedic surgery experience
- One completed travel assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Summary
This is a travel contract position for an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of specialty experience. The role requires flexibility for weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and floating to other surgical specialties. Candidates must hold current BLS certification and preferably ACLS. First-time travel nurses are not eligible. Comprehensive background checks, immunizations, competency exams, and drug screening are mandatory.
