Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care using the Nursing Process from admission to discharge, tailored to the developmental age of clients.
• Perform client assessments and reassessments according to standard procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and coordinate individualized care plans, including discharge planning.
• Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within the clinical setting.
• Delegate tasks appropriately based on competency levels.
• Document client care and education provided to clients and families.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies per policy; assist licensed healthcare providers as needed.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain professional standards and ethics.
• Maintain compliance with nursing practice standards and facility policies.

Work Schedule

• Day shift options:

  • 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
  • 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
• 40 hours guaranteed per week
• Flexibility required for weekend and variable hours as needed

Location & Travel Requirements

• Must be willing and able to travel to multiple locations within a 35-mile radius.
• Advanced notice will be provided for daily assignment locations.
• Ability to travel/transport between sites may be required.
• Must be willing to float to all locations within the specified radius.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including a 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national criminal search, and education verification.
• Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
• Drug testing within 30 days of start.
• Immunization or declination documentation for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
  • Influenza (seasonal vaccine or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Tuberculosis screening: Two PPD tests or equivalent within required timeframes; chest X-ray and TB questionnaire if positive.
• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Two professional references within the last three years.
• Skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually as applicable.

Additional Notes

• Preference given to candidates with no Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions.
• Start date flexibility required; must be able to start by May 4.
• Candidates must maintain professional boundaries and demonstrate ongoing professional growth.
• Participation in education and development of staff is expected.

This position requires a highly flexible, experienced RN willing to travel within the region and adapt to changing schedules while providing comprehensive behavioral health nursing care.
