Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care using the Nursing Process from admission to discharge, tailored to the developmental age of clients.
- Perform client assessments and reassessments according to standard procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and coordinate individualized care plans, including discharge planning.
- Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within the clinical setting.
- Delegate tasks appropriately based on competency levels.
- Document client care and education provided to clients and families.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies per policy; assist licensed healthcare providers as needed.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain professional standards and ethics.
- Maintain compliance with nursing practice standards and facility policies.
Work Schedule
- Day shift options:
- 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- 40 hours guaranteed per week
- Flexibility required for weekend and variable hours as needed
Location & Travel Requirements
- Must be willing and able to travel to multiple locations within a 35-mile radius.
- Advanced notice will be provided for daily assignment locations.
- Ability to travel/transport between sites may be required.
- Must be willing to float to all locations within the specified radius.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including a 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national criminal search, and education verification.
- Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
- Drug testing within 30 days of start.
- Immunization or declination documentation for:
- COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
- Influenza (seasonal vaccine or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tuberculosis screening: Two PPD tests or equivalent within required timeframes; chest X-ray and TB questionnaire if positive.
- Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Two professional references within the last three years.
- Skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually as applicable.
Additional Notes
- Preference given to candidates with no Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions.
- Start date flexibility required; must be able to start by May 4.
- Candidates must maintain professional boundaries and demonstrate ongoing professional growth.
- Participation in education and development of staff is expected.
This position requires a highly flexible, experienced RN willing to travel within the region and adapt to changing schedules while providing comprehensive behavioral health nursing care.
