Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room (ER) on a travel/contract basis. This position requires readiness to work every other weekend and holidays as needed. No call or float requirements. Block scheduling is not available.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Work every other weekend and holidays as required by the unit (holiday time off not guaranteed)
- Expected to be clocked in and ready for report at shift start
- No call or float requirements
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 30 days of start (annual TB testing not required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof required
- Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions accepted)
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or facility declination required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption required for candidates starting after November 1
- 10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search back to age 18
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
- Professional reference from supervisor or manager required
- Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (not typically RN but check unit specifics)
- Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric and certain specialty placements (not typically ER RN)
Additional Facility Requirements
- Review and sign Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start
- Fit testing required on-site (Honeywell DC365N95HC) for acute care staff; appointment must be scheduled and documented
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required
