Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room (ER) on a travel/contract basis. This position requires readiness to work every other weekend and holidays as needed. No call or float requirements. Block scheduling is not available.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Michigan
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Work every other weekend and holidays as required by the unit (holiday time off not guaranteed)
  • Expected to be clocked in and ready for report at shift start
  • No call or float requirements

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 30 days of start (annual TB testing not required)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof required
  • Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions accepted)
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or facility declination required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption required for candidates starting after November 1
  • 10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search back to age 18
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
  • Professional reference from supervisor or manager required
  • Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
  • Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (not typically RN but check unit specifics)
  • Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric and certain specialty placements (not typically ER RN)

Additional Facility Requirements

  • Review and sign Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start
  • Fit testing required on-site (Honeywell DC365N95HC) for acute care staff; appointment must be scheduled and documented
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required
