Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work on the Mental Health Unit (MHU) during weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Must have current inpatient MHU/BHU experience

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum 2 years of experience in inpatient Mental Health Unit/Behavioral Health Unit
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• New York State registry search required for all Behavioral Health travelers
• Must pass advanced EKG/ECG competency testing within 72 hours of signing contract (90% passing score required)
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for all RNs)
• Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 60 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including specific forms to be completed during physical
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (2-step PPD required)
• Immunization or titer proof for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by December 5th, 2024
• Color vision test (Ishihara’s test) required prior to start
• Must be outside a 50-mile radius from specified counties (no local candidates)

Additional Requirements & Competencies

• Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Various facility-specific documents and assessments including photo for badge, lift assessment, ECG study guide, and health questionnaires
• Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start
• Must complete or have on file NIH Stroke Certification if applicable
• Must complete or have on file advanced EKG/ECG competency exam with remediation process if needed

• Candidates must not reside in the following counties: Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster

• Flu vaccine exemptions require prior approval and mask-wearing in patient-facing areas if exemption is granted
