Shift & Schedule

• Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3/12s)
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend and as needed by unit
• On Call: As needed
• Floating: May float to other units within scope of practice, including different campuses with approximately 1.5 hours notice. Shuttle provided for floating.

Required Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of RN ICU experience
• Prior travel experience is required (traveling for more than a year expected)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• California RN License
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Additional Certifications (may be required depending on position)

• CCRN (Critical Care RN)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• IV Certification (if applicable)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
• Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS, and other regulatory checks
• Education verification required; BSN preferred but not mandatory
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of immunity or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April)
• Respiratory safety clearance (annual)
• Color blindness exam (in-person, if applicable)

Documentation & Orientation

• Must review and sign facility-specific documents including:

  • Job description
  • Standards of Business Conduct
  • Confidentiality and HIPAA agreements
  • Regulatory orientation and code of conduct
  • Vendor training and overpayment refund policies (for contracts signed after May 31, 2024)
• TB questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
• References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)
• Skills checklist and work history verification required annually

• Flexibility with floating to other units and campuses is expected.
• Prior travel experience is explicitly required.
• Candidates must be prepared for comprehensive background and health screenings.
• Religious and medical exemptions for immunizations and fit testing may be considered with proper documentation and approval.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in California with a reputable healthcare system.
