Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Location: Kerrville, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a new unit with a great culture and welcoming team.
• Must be kind, compassionate, caring, and a team player.
• Patient ratio: 1:5 during the day, 1:6 at night.
• Floating required to 2W, CDU, and ARU units.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Registered Nursing.
• Med/Surg and short stay experience required.
• Telemetry experience preferred.
• First-time travelers are acceptable depending on experience.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Nurse license valid in Texas.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Additional Requirements

• Must complete a 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, and education verification.
• Annual background screenings including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG.
• Competency exams with a minimum score of 80% as applicable.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required for placement).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
• Required vaccinations or documented declinations for:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu (or declination during flu season)
  • COVID-19 (or declination)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
• 2 professional references within 3 years of start.
• Annual skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgement.

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers are acceptable depending on experience; prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
