Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts on weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) from 06:45 to 19:15

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience (higher years of experience confirmed)
First-time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required)
Must have weekend availability (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
General OR and Level I Trauma experience required
Experience with Cerner preferred
Required case experience across multiple surgical specialties:
- Bariatric: Laparoscopic assisted cases
- General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple
- Neurology: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion
- Orthopedic: Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed and Open reduction of fractures
- Plastic Surgery: Free Flap - Microvascular
- Transplant: Organ donation
- Urology: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy
- Trauma: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, Motor Vehicle Accidents (multiple injuries)
Emergency management skills: Code response, Fire safety, Latex allergy management, Malignant Hyperthermia
Equipment experience: Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables
Professional knowledge: Administration of blood products, Infection control, Radiation safety, Specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) procedure, Urinary bladder catheterization

Licensure & Certifications

Must have an active Illinois RN license or be in the application process
BLS required
CNOR and CST preferred
ACLS and PALS may be required based on unit/specialty (AHA or RQI acceptable)

Additional Requirements

Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
On-call required approximately 1 time per week (though frequency may be low)
No block scheduling accommodations
Floating within scope of practice is rare but possible
All requested time off must be approved by manager
Background checks, drug screening, physical exam, immunizations, and other health documents required per facility policy
References and competency exams required for clinical candidates
