Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Heart & Vascular Unit (7HVU)
- 49-bed specialty medical/surgical unit focused on cardiovascular care
- Fast-paced environment with care for stable heart and lung transplants and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs)
- Sister unit to the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit
Patient Ratios
- Day shift: 1:5
- Night shift: 1:6 (can occasionally be 1:7)
Schedule & Floating
- 36 or 48-hour shift options
- Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs, including to multiple units and potentially Bellevue campus
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri night/Sat night)
- RTO (Request Time Off) allowed up to 2 weeks, with restrictions during College World Series dates (6/11/26 - 6/22/26)
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a large, urban hospital (highest required years of experience)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Drip medication administration required on all floors
- First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
Licensure & Certifications
- Registered Nurse license required (Nebraska license accepted pending but must be in hand before start)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must be prepared to float within scope to various units (e.g., 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, Trauma, Observation, SOTU)
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Scrubs mandatory: Steele gray with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
Background & Health Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start, including federal enhanced search
- SAM and OIG checks required every 30 days
- Education verification required
- Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually
- Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations required: Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, annual PPD or TB clearance
- Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
Other Notes
- Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates
- 2 references from work within past 2 years required
- Annual skills checklist required
