Registered Nurse (Ortho RN) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Orthopedic Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Nights (1845-0715), either 4x12 or 3x12 hour shifts
  • Unit Size: 38 beds
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every third weekend
  • On-call: None
  • Floating: May float to other Med Surg departments as needed
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals: Accepted, no radius restrictions
  • License: Must have an active Illinois RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days onsite
  • Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts

Certifications & Skills

  • Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), Telemetry experience, Cerner charting experience
  • IV Therapy/Phlebotomy Skills: PICC line management, starting IVs required
  • Travel Experience: Preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and other state-specific searches
  • Licenses & Certifications: Primary source verification required for state license, certifications, and education
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Other:
    • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
    • Photo for badge within one week of contract signing
    • Code of conduct acknowledgment
    • Parking permit form (time sensitive)
    • References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates

Notes

  • Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start (for clinical candidates without an IL license)
  • All documentation must be uploaded and verified prior to start
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies

This position is ideal for experienced orthopedic RNs who are comfortable working night shifts in a busy acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital setting with a preference for candidates with telemetry and Cerner experience.
